New gymnastics course at SCC

Climbing, jumping, somersaulting, and clapping are part of a new gymnastics course at the Spafford Children’s Center for young children who have trouble following directions and staying on task. With the teacher close by, a little girl scrambled over a round mat, up the padded green stairs, and then jumped down into a somersault. The teacher and the other children applauded as the girl hopped with joy at her achievement.  

Nearby several children lined up to do multiple cartwheels in unison and showed off their back bends. Small successes—maybe—but huge in the life of a child who has struggled with attention issues that can be aggravated by poverty.
